At our 95 year old Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh, Southwestern Pennsylvanians join together in efforts designed to enable African Americans to achieve economic self-reliance, parity, power and civil rights. Through vital programs in employment and jobs training, education and youth development, family and child development, housing and self-sufficiency, we work to level the playing field for all Americans and to equip disadvantaged families to care for themselves.

The Urban League employs the following 5-point strategy, tailored to local needs, in order to implement our mission:

– Education and Youth Empowerment

– Economic Empowerment

– Health and Quality of Life Empowerment

– Civic Engagement Empowerment

– Civil Rights and Racial Justice Empowerment

We believe that it is imperative that the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh gathers resources to ensure social, political and economic justice for all Americans. The Urban League will provide bold leadership, innovative programs and policies to strengthen the region by helping African Americans reach their full potential. With the active engagement in the Pittsburgh community, the Urban League advocates economic opportunity and justice that leads to significant improvement in the quality of our lives.
