The Kingsley Association first named Kingsley House or (Kingsley) a settlement house founded in 1893. As a result of the industrial revolution, immigrant workers bound to the mills and factories found themselves poor and in tremendous need. A movement of human services and social reform lead by privileged university graduates sought to bring solutions to some of the social, educational and recreational challenges faced by these immigrants.

Kingsley continues to host an abundance of cultural, educational, wellness and social programming for residents of the East End of Pittsburgh and beyond. Kingsley is also home base for the Choice Neighborhood Initiative People Team which supports 155 families in Larimer who are impacted by re-development efforts. Kingsley is also the lead agency for the East Liberty Family Support Center which provides a refined set of services to families aimed at strengthening and empowering families of young children.
