Riverlife Pittsburgh
Riverlife (formerly Riverlife Task Force) is a public-private partnership established in 1999 to guide and advocate for the redevelopment of Pittsburgh’s riverfronts. Riverlife works out front and behind the scenes with riverfront property owners, developers, public officials and community groups to reconnect Pittsburgh with its rivers. Since 1999 we have successfully brought recreation, ecological restoration and economic opportunity back to our Downtown waterfronts. Today, Riverlife’s stewardship extends up the Allegheny River to the 31st Street Bridge, down the Monongahela River to the Hot Metal Bridge, and along the Ohio River to the West End Bridge.
Since 2000 we’ve been building Three Rivers Park, a 13-mile interconnected loop of riverfront trails, parks and amenities.
But we know that the benefits of the park are more than just its physical properties. Here’s why responsible riverfront development is so important to Pittsburgh, our residents and our visitors:
Environment
Reclaiming Pittsburgh’s riverfronts from industry and pollution
Economy
Riverlife’s work has led to over $4 billion in local riverfront investment
