The Rachel Carson Trails Conservancy is a volunteer-based organization dedicated to the development, promotion and protection of hiking and walking trails in western Pennsylvania. With a mission of raising awareness of the benefits and importance of community trails, its goals are to get more people interested in physical activities, to experience the beauty of our region and the natural world, and to have people see our region as active and vibrant.

It currently stewards the Harmony Trail, the Rachel Carson Trail, and the Baker Trail. RCTC protects these trails through special events, flexible design and development, and advocacy. It provides leadership and organization to trail stewards who accept responsibility for sections of the hiking trails. RCTC manages the property, liability, trail design, and advocacy issues of hiking trails while the stewards monitor trail conditions, local issues and diplomatic relations.
