The Pittsburgh Black Nurses in Action is an organization of professional black nurses with a commonality of sharing our expertise in the area of health promotion. We are emerging as a community resource and assist in many health awareness ventures. Each year during the month of April, we have a collaborative community health fair with various health promotion vendors. We strive to continually be an advocate for quality care by educating nurses on disease processes which affect our community.

Our commitment to mentoring, guiding, and providing scholarships to nursing students is ongoing. Each year we give nursing students from various levels of education scholarships during our annual Evelyn Paige Parker Scholarship Brunch. The funds for the scholarships are generated through the Poise Foundation.

We are the local chapter of the National Black Nurses Association which affords us access with over 150,000 nurses of color who recognize the value of belonging to the only professional African American nursing organization.

Mission Statement:
We are committed to reducing health disparities among African Americans and other communities within the Greater Pittsburgh area through health education and promotion. We support the nursing profession through mentorship and collaboration and promote growth through recruitment.
