Homewood Children’s Village
Homewood Children’s Village is a non-profit based in Pittsburgh’s Homewood neighborhood. Our mission is to simultaneously improve the lives of Homewood’s children and to reweave the fabric of the community in which they live.
Power Pack – weekend nutrition program where enrolled students receive backpack full of nonperishable food items.
Workout Wednesday – free workout group that meets every Wednesd ay at 6pm at Homewood Library
Girls on the Run (at Faison Elementary) – after-school program for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade girls that teaches them how to live a healthy lifestyle while training for a 5K
Kids of STEEL (at Lincoln Elementary) – physical activity program designed by the Pittsburgh Marathon Group where students try to complete 26 miles during the spring semester
Health Matters Health Education Series – monthly health education sessions held at the Homewood Library where community members can receive health information and ask health experts questions
Faison Elementary Walking Club and Walk to School Program – physical activity initiative with Faison Elementary designed to teach students the benefits of exercise
