Ultimate Play Day 2018 @ August Wilson Park

The Ultimate Play Day is a celebration of playfulness for people of all ages. Hosted by the Playful Pittsburgh Collaborative, the event is an opportunity for people from throughout the Pittsburgh region to play together and raise awareness of the benefits of play for everyone- from birth to 199 yrs.

Member organizations of the Playful Pittsburgh Collaborative and community partners come together to provide a holistic model of innovative and creative play. There will be hula hoops and bubbles, games, scavenger hunts and more! Playful activities spark conversations about topics including play and learning, risk in play, the benefits of play, and how we can incorporate play into our lives and the lives of our children every day. Featured activities are carefully selected as ones that can be replicated at home, in classrooms, and at neighborhood parks.

Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood through adulthood. Mental health affects our thoughts, feelings and actions and can impact the physical aspects of our wellbeing. Join United Way’s fitUnited and guest speaker Dr. Michael Marcsisin, Medical Director – Medical Management and Policy at Highmark, Inc., to learn about the connection between mental health and physical health. Participants will also learn about strategies and local resources that caregivers of children can utilize to support positive mental health development of youth. Lunch will be provided.

Every week we’ll gather to explore movement through games. Create, test, teach, and play your own games and the games of your classmates and coaches! Come experience original class favorites like Diamond Heist, Ninja Tag, Ultimate Obstacle Course, and more!

For anyone 8-12 years old with a Boys and Girls Club membership and a playful attitude. Limit of 14 participants.
