What would Complete Streets look like in your municipality?

Over the past several years, Complete Streets policies have gained both national attention and local momentum. Economic development, livable communities, and improved quality of life have been realized in many areas in the US. But how can we develop and implement these policies in our region? There is no one-size-fits all policy, so join us to learn more about Complete Streets and the resources that are available to help!

Session topics include Complete Streets basics and benefits, policy development and funding opportunities, public engagement, and more! Municipal attendees will also have a chance for individualized ordinance development assistance with local experts. The agenda is forthcoming, so visit our event page as we update it with more details!

The Workshop will be geared towards elected and appointed officials, though all are welcome to attend! The event is free of charge, and a light breakfast and lunch will be provided. RSVP’s are required. Please email Lindsay Angelo, CONNECT Project and Outreach Manager, at with questions or for more information.

This Workshop is brought to you by CONNECT and our partners:

Ventures Outdoors Again – Walk with a Doc – Heart Health @ Frick Park
Nov 15 @ 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Get healthy while being healthy! We’ll join local cardiac specialists for a relaxing 1.5 mile walk along flat terrain that gets our bodies moving and stimulates our minds. At stops along the trail, the doctors will share information with the group on managing heart health while staying active and answer individual questions as we walk.

Walk with a Doc Wednesday Evening – Allegheny Health Network @ North Boroughs YMCA
Nov 15 @ 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm

According to the American Heart Association, walking has the lowest dropout rate of any physical activity. Think it doesn’t do any good? Think again. Walking is low impact; easier on the joints than running. It is safe – with a doctor’s okay – for people with orthopedic ailments, heart conditions, and those who are more than 20% overweight. In addition, research has shown that you could gain two hours of life for each hour of regular exercise! That quick stroll around the block seems a little more worthwhile now, doesn’t it?

Walk with a Doc is a walking program for everyone interested in taking steps for a healthier lifestyle. What better way to start your weekend than on your feet making strides to help your heart and improving your general health to live longer! While you walk at your own pace, you’ll have the opportunity to have questions answered by local physicians.
